DebateBattle: Novelists vs. Journalists
January 20th 2008 23:39
Allow me to break this down.
Novelists would be those people who write based on:
Life experiences
Personal Creativity
Day-to-day inspirations..
Journalists can be considered those who write through:
Research
Celebrity
Current affairs..
What would we, as writers and readers of Orble, prefer to see more of in the blogging world? Whatever your response and reasoning, are you satisfied with what you usually come across?
Insults are to be witty and in good humor. Apart from that stick to arguing about the facts.
You can take either side of an argument regardless of your actual views. In fact you are encouraged to take the other side now and again, it's mind expanding.
The debate will take place via comments in response to the official debate post on the host blog.
Anyone can participate.
Anonymous comments are discouraged.

If I want opinion, insights into life, varierty of views, curiosities, I turn to blogs.
I don't see them as competing, but complementary. Like wine and cheese. Blogs with news are OK, but I am less likely to believe them if I don't know the source. Mind you, I don't think anyone really believes much of what they see in the mainstream news now, anyway.
And I would probably question anybody calling themselves a journalist that writes celebrity gossip...
What do people think of journalists?

Looks like we've got some anonymous voters around.
Hey, SPEAK UP! If you're a journo or a novelist, let us know your views... if you have an opinion on the stylisations of either camp then let us know!
I didn't know you guys needed encouraging...
Cibby, I see you sitting on that fence. I guess I'll let you get away with it.
Amanda, nice to see u, definitely agree with you. Especially about not trusting mainstream news. Regardless, we all generally get our views on current affairs through those close to us, the news simply provides a context in which to witness our views being either trampled on or exalted. Not meaning to stand up for liars, that's just the way most news people work these days.
A shame that.
