Purpose, or Direction?
A person with purpose will often ponder on the question, "What was I put on this earth for?" They expect reason from their, and other people's actions.
A person with direction will ask the question, "Where do I expect to be in ten years time?" They are the more ambitious types, often expecting recognition for time spent on projects.
Some are more of the latter, some the former. While some are a mix of both.
Me, I am the latter. As an existential realist, the focus on myself and my connection with the universe leads to the feel for wanting more, regardless of how blind my ambition may be. In real terms, I expect my intellectual property and hobbies to become secure and financially dependable.
That expectation is still to be met.
As a struggling artist, I am at times conceptual, and sometimes expressionistic. That is to say, I use progressive thought without being detached from what I feel.
These theories relate, in that both purpose and direction are conceptual.
Expressionism also has its yin and yang. There are those who work with emotions involved with their memory, and those who express themselves in their current situation.
(I believe expressionistic self-portraits are the deepest insights known to mankind).
The terms 'conceptual' and 'expressionism' often relate to art. 'Purpose' and 'Direction' are more along the lines of life, death and politics - aka philosophy.
I wonder what would define the average blogger...
