Shady Art Dealers
January 11th 2007 03:34
They seem like a conservative gay Spanish couple. As one notices I am trying to get their attention, he gives me a look as if to say, "Stay off my high, and no we're not selling any cocaine today."
Taken aback, I look again at the beautifully framed piece of art which says "$50" next to it. Look, I hate to butt in to your loverboy snuggletime, but the question remains.
"Are you guys having a closing down sale?"
Blank stares.
"Is this shop closing down soon?"
"Yes, we are closing down." Is this what camp sounds like in Spanish? Probably just Southern France.
"Do you know when?"
[pregnant pause]"Probably by the end of this week. We don't know."
I ask where the impressionistic harbour scene is supposed to be.
"It could be anywhere in Europe."
I let out an inquisitive, "Portugal?" but the question remained unanswered. I also noticed the artwork was not signed, so I leave them to it - to the other side of Paddington!
I intend to drop in uninvited upon the On Topic Media team. I ended up receiving a fairly warm welcome upon telling them I have a blog with them.
They said it is extremely rare that they ever get to meet the bloggers, which made me feel kinda special. To the Orble community - if ever your in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, do drop by. It also helps if you have some petty excuse like an internet query, just to make them feel kinda special too. (Downloadable music coming soon!)
And they sure as hell aren't shady about their dealings, but are we? Are we just a bunch of shady folks trying to make a living off whatever we can get our hands on? You be the judge.

Yeah, I myself wouldn't mind if someone went up to me and said "I'm a professional blogger, want to be in my site?"

Ash, yes it will be my own music. I've just got to get some studio time to put it all together.
