Music is sound displayed through the permanence of soul. As often as the sound of a generation will alter, there will be decades of musical history which have shaped the music we hear today. I use the term 'Japanese' to define a style measured through rhythm and melody. Some may say everything can be defined as electro-pop. I define the everything and the ether surrounding it as jazz-funk. With the classicism of flamenco and street sense of hiphop.

Smoke in the Foyer

The fresh smell of roasting coffee and breakfast fryups is stirring up the troops. Another day of toil and trouble is all to be expected, yet it might be the day for a bit of extra on the side - get drunk and engage in profound conversation with strangers or however one may want to release and unwind.

Could it be... Friday?

As one sits back and contemplates smoking a cigarette over the reception desk while asking out the receptionist, it becomes notable that the dream sequence from the night before hasn't quite been shaken off.

Following one's nose to the coffee and soaking up the atmosphere with a broad scope of the area and the people confined to it, the physical greets the return of the regular mindstate with a hearty good morning. Despite the after effects of the previous evening's night cap (3 straight rum shots), the physical decides to smarten up and agree.

"Tis good and all captain, would you like a cigarette?"

Taking the coffee to the fresh breeze of the backyard, the mind and physical become one. Soul is lurking all over the place, like a frog looking for a princess to kiss. Unfortunately frogs are a hell of a lot easier to keep in the one place. Shall we call it a Lion that doesn't know the difference between predator and prey.

We'll catch him one day.

Securely Ambitious

All too often, we come to a point where we have decided to bow to the master for the last time. The flighty will make a rough decision and scan the classifieds before moving laterally. The aspirational will determine exactly when they've had enough of a position - maybe observe the movements of the workplace ladder - and figure at that point they will have gotten what they wanted from the job.

This being the accepted norm of the day, due to economic climate and ease of communication etc, has allowed for a large chunk of everyday folks to move on and play the market as their personality fits.

Some will take a stand and ruffle the feathers of the authorities at play. Not to be taken lightly, the flight of the ambitious has become more of a wind change than most of us want.

With shaky jobs making for anxious workers and sharp-eyed employers, one may want to creatively assess the chances of winning the lottery. Not to mention the connections garnered in one's life is still as relevant as a century ago. Maybe there's a 1 percent or so to blame, if only because they don't want to be shaken up like the rest of us.

Job security is a word hard to come by without a few "where?"s lingering between the lines. Tis a nasty institution that determines it to be cut down as if of nil worth, and an unfortunate circumstance of a wobbly economy. Many intend to continue on as planned, figuring a bearish stock market won't hinder their goals. Some lose the optimism completely as they get fired from the job and are left to light fires in the street.

Capitalism will get nasty. A solid job ain't fashionable, affording to keep them solid should be.

How I became a Moderate

In one's adjustment to a new environment, there will inevitably be the sense of disappointment upon realising the quirks of the place that are by products of the reasoning to moving there in the first place.

Tolerance is a big one. Knowing you'll fit in easily enough without having to sacrifice your lifestyle and personality in the process. And tolerance can often be a conundrum of a word, standing alone.

Having recently moved west of the city, to a part of town with an eclectic mix of society, I figured it would be relatively chill just to be blahzay and not fuss about what the local folk think of you. Hey, maybe they won't bother with precursory judgement fullstop, but then this is Sydney and that would mark me as annoyingly optimistic.

Regardless, that's what I'm known for.

It is a funny situation whereby I feel the people of the area could do with dancing to a different tune. Upon realising the depth of anti-Israel sentiment and pro-sexual diversity (ie one simply doesn't act like former and must at least hats off to the latter), I figured these guys need their feathers ruffled.

Haha. Another thing I have developed a reputation for. And funny to think I have minimal connections to either Israel or GLBetc's, just knowing that Utopia is a social justice construct that a progressive people will aim towards. Without focusing on Netinyahu or popular (should I say trendy?) sexual minorities.

The progress of left field politics in Australia has gone as far as one might have hoped a decade or two ago, with CO2 emissions getting a thorough breakdown. But then the people talk of a subliminal facism as if John Howard didn't spark the idea in the first place. And regardless of our history as such, makes the same people swing 360 degrees back to the extreme right.

Not to mention the sentiment of Democracy being a culture of indoctrination from the United States. C'mon you're just agitating for entertainment. Play your cold war games on facebook.

It is always an excrutiating sound to hear the left end talk of fighting fire with fire. You might be agnostic, but that doesn't mean you have the basic human/animal right to play god. Leave that to Buddha emoticon

Inflated flybynights

They get around.

From the corner of your eye to the corner of the world, the people with the money to spend are looking for something. Somewhere exotic, South America or Africa. Antarctica

No Cost Dining

The night started out simply. The couple's low cost night started with a bus ride into Little China with a driver that had been in the business so long he could hardly care about the passengers any more.

One partner quipped, " He reminds me of those skaters that have 'Like my skateboarding? Phone 1800-EAT-S*#T' written on them." He made a point of not making this comment too loud, fully aware that a dose of attitude from the bus passengers could well mean the passengers may not make it to their destination in one piece

As long as we have the weather

It happens all too often. Get out of bed with a little hangover, walk outside and feel the warmth of the sunshine, and recover just like that. Maybe find ourselves to be a little too inspired and need to eat something in order to settle.

Rain and cool weather can also provide a very strong outlet for the our emotions. When feeling a little down and out, all we have to do is hear the pitter patter, look through the fuzz of falling drops of water in the window, and realise that the weather is expressing exactly how we are feeling

Blundering Blunderbuss

I have a new vice. Being as unmaterialistic as I have over the years, it may seem to surprise some who have known me as one to not care about holes in his shoes and seams of his t-shirts.

New shirts. Fresh, never been washed or worn, and of a colour to suit the vibe at the time of purchase - or whatever happenstances occuring over the coming week. The chocolate colour is a favourite of mine, and green just has that sense of dopeness that cannot be derived from other, more organic sources

Castlereagh St

Finally, the move has been made. It was around the beginning of this year when I had a dream in which I woke up thinking I was on a particular street in the inner city of Sydney. Now, I have moved into Castlereagh St - what was seen at the time of moving as to be close to my places of work and study.

When I told a workmate I was living in the city, he asked, "What, because you're rich

The streets are teeming

Its like the universe has folded itself up into one neat package and placed itself all along the streets of Bondi. People are partying, lord knows its just one big party - regardless of how minimally sex and booze are in the picture. Just what the doctor ordered.

There are a few slip ups here and there, nothing the World Youth Day Damage Control Team aren't used to. Just a few more letters of complaints to the Pope's Facebook page won't really change his image

Entrepreneurial Flirtations

The artistic flair is downpat.

For the fact that I haven't made it especially far in my flirtations with music, writing and film, its time to combine the three. Having been keeping myself in practice with these three hobbies, the skills have developed to a point of feeling a bit more like a professional

Moving to the next chapter while keeping it dapper

There are times in life when we find ourselves over dressed for the occasion. At other times we are under dressed. At the best of times we find ourselves well-fitted for the occasion, although it is better to be safe than sorry and over dress just in case everyone else is too.

The finance world is one of those places where its best to over dress. Although one may find such a career too much capitalism for one lifetime and move to different avenues, such as community work

Friendship Manifesto

Don't let the life of you...

I've had plenty of these problems in the past. My initial friend base started with three types of people: those with similar interests, those who I felt could do with a friend, and bad kids that were looking for someone to be seen with who will make their image a bit more positive

Most Stylish, if you will

The first time I met a certain blogger friend, she asked me what I do for work. When I told her, she promptly asked, "Why don't you write about it?"

I explained the pattern of paid work related to my creative writing. When there's more of one, there tends to be less of the other. Call me bohemian if you feel it suits
