The Skateboard Stack
November 5th 2007 06:06
I stacked it in my front yard today.
Walking home mid afternoon, I came across a piece of wood which made my imagination think all types of things - surfing, karate chopping it in half - but most importantly I wanted to skate on it.
So I lug it home in all the glory that an old school table top can have, and immediately set it up for action. After I mastered the rollup to fakie, then backside pivot to wall plant, I decide to get a bit more speed before the next trick - the rock to fakie.
The board clipped the top a couple of times, but didn't roll back in. Then...
I layed back on the ground for a few minutes and dazed into the sky. I could have had my face shaved off by the brick wall next to me. I could have landed on my ankle all funny and sprained it again.
But I didn't. It was like I had surfed it and karate chopped it at the same time. And I couldn't help but quietly smile to myself, internally happy that I still had that youthful springtime feeling in me - hey it may never leave. Try something new, fail at it, but have fun on the way.
Such is life.
